BEIJING, Sep. 2, 2010 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Robin Li, head of Baidu.Com (NASDAQ:BIDU) In. (BIDU.NASDAQ) said on a Thursday Baidu Technology Innovation Conference that the company has launched an appliance platform named Box Computing Open Platform.
The Chinese language search engine said that customers can gain access via any HPML browsers, including the Safari embed in Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad, to the games and software appliances on the platform.
So far, Baidu has attracted 400 partners and games for the platform such as the popular games on PopCap and the English version of Plants vs. Zombies.
Since 2009, the company has been working on the development of the platform, which, as Baidu's management expect, will bring in remarkable incomes in future years.
Besides, Baidu disclosed that it is under negotiation with certain Chinese enterprises over possible merger and acquisitions. (Edited by Duan Jing, duanjing@xinhua.org)
